Published Gealogical Records

Book I
George Shealy Langford: Langfords in America; 1977

Note: As the title suggests, Book I includes references to the name Langford throughout America.  The central theme concerns the author's Langford line and collateral lines of Holley, Waters, Shealy and Timms.

Book II
George Shealy Langford: Supplement to Langfords in America; to be published in 1980. [Actual published title: Additional Sketches about Langfords, Book II, 1981, College Park. Md. - GL,III, ed.]

Note: Book II will contain an article on our particular Langford line, a chapter to be headed, "Thomas Langford, b.[c.1630] of Salem, Massachusetts and Newport, Rhode Island and his descendants surnamed Langford." [That is exactly how the article appeared in Book II, with George Langford as its author - GL,III, ed.]

Book III
George Langford, Sr.: Genealogy of Langford and the Allied Families of Sweeting, Robertson and Bell; 1936.

Note: Book III contains the results of Father's attempts to trace the Langford line and all collateral lines back to their emigrant ancestors, in all, over one hundred surnames, too many to list here.  He also traced, as far as possible, all descendants of all surnames of Thomas Langford, b.[c.1630].  Father produced this work mostly in diagram form for family distribution, but Newberry Library persuaded him to make twenty blueprint copies, which they distributed to various large libraries of their choice, including the Library of Congress.

In this Excursus XIII I have elected not to duplicate material already included in the above published books.  I am limiting Excursus XIII: Langford to those Langfords and their collateral familes that are also Massey descendants.

Note
The "Langford Numbers" that I use here are the same that will appear in George Shealy Langford's 1980 book: Supplement to Langfords in America.
