In 1932-1934, after I had combined Will County, Illinois, Court records with the recollections of 31.Julia Talbot, I sought connections with published Talbot genealogies, particularly of Irish families; I was unsuccessful.  In 1981 [when this was written - GL,III, ed.] a more sophisticated search may be more successful.  The noble Talbot families have been well documented on both Irish and English Peerage books.

 When I quizzed 31.Aunt Julia Talbot, c.1931-1932, her recollections were given entirely from memory; she had no notes and no documents of any kind.

 31.Julia Talbot "thought" that the father of 2.Richard Talbot was also named  Richard; in the event that you commence Irish research, you would do wise to seek positive proof, such as a Will.

 Both 31.Julia Talbot and 43.Gordon Talbot say that 2.Richard Talbot and Catherine Howard were parents of 3.Robert, 4.John, 5.Thomas, and 6.Richard Talbot.  Presumably 2.Richard Talbot died in Ireland, possibly near Tralee.  Seek his Will.  There might even be, in 1981, an Irish Talbot published genealogy ?  Howard is a well known English family; seek a Howard genealogy.

 4.John Talbot is said to have died in Ireland.  Seek his Will in the Tralee area; he may say something about his emigrant brothers or his parentage.

 3.Robert Talbert, said to have died at Warrenville, DuPage County, Illinois.  Have some one get xerographic copies of his Will and also any Grantee and Grantor Deeds.  Maybe one of the Joliet Talbots could do this for you.  Perhaps the Will would enumerate all of his "large family."

 31.Julia Talbot told me that there was a Thomas talbot who "died, unmarried, in the Far West," but I have not been able to identify him.

 I believe that there is sufficient circumstantial evidence that we can hypothesize that 5.Thomas Talbot and 6.Richard Talbot were brothers:
1
 In 1850 the Census enumerated 5.Thomas Talbot, unmarried, as being in the household of 6.Richard Talbot and his wife, Mary Scanlon Talbot.
2
 6.Richard talbot named a son, 10.Thomas Talbot, possibly after his brother.  5.Thomas Talbot named a son, 11.Richard Talbot, also presumably after his brother.
3
 Conceivably, 6.Richard Talbot, an emigrant in 1832, and well established in Will County before 1850, could have sponsored the emigration of his younger brother, 5.Thomas Talbot, in 1842.
Of course, if the Will of 2.Richard Talbot can be found, we will then know the facts.

 The naturalization papers of 5.Thomas Talbot may be available at one of the main entry ports: Boston, New York; or Philadelphia.

 5.Thomas Talbot lived at least through 1863 in Will County, Illinois.  Seek his Will in Will County and in DuPage County.

 31.Julia Talbot quoted this date (1832) from memory.  Perhaps his naturalization records can be found in Boston.

 My recollection is that 31.Julia Talbot told me that Mary Scanlon was one of a group of Irish girls, recruited to work in the New England textile mills, not accompanied by parents.  Perhaps her naturalization reord also exists in Boston.

 These two Deeds did not include Mary Scanlon Talbot, wife of 6.Richard Talbot; but I may have carelessly omitted her name as I took notes.  I suggest that the two deeds be re-read.

 I believe that you would be wise to secure xerographic copies of all Talbot Deeds in both Will County and in DuPage County.  Most of them will be probably just simple land transfers, but occasionally one will be the end result of an estate dispute, a lawsuit, or something of that sort.

 I suggest that you seek copies of County Atlases of both Will County and DuPage County.  The early ones often defined the farms by their owners' names.
