Prototype ratchet wrench.
Price: $55.00 plus shipping.
WS&P-05
This strange little wrench is very practical.  It started out as a Patent Applied For device sold by Sears, Roebuck under the Dunlap label.

The original design is [still] awkward to use because one cannot tell from the markings on the wrench which is the "off" versus the "on" side. It could be disastrous to guess incorrectly.

The disgruntled mechanic who modified the Dunlap wrench arranged it so that only one side at a time could be applied to the head of the screw fastener.  He also added the wooden handles (made from a Meyer Thread Company spool)
to ease the stress on his fingers. An important safety improvement, pre-OSHA in age.
