Condition: Sharp, smooth, dead straight and scraped free of rust with a sharp chisel. No pitting, and only a few scratches from previous cleaning attempts. The etch cannot be photographed, but is fairly readable, especially to the Silver Steel, Patented July 7, 1896, and Damaskeened statements. The date is for design patent D27,763, covering the damaskeening pattern applied to the blade, which is still somewhat visible.
The beech handle has 98% of its original finish, no checks or breaks, and only a few dings from handling.
