Dividers
marked
WILLIAM FRIEDRICHS and CAST STEEL.
MG&MT-16
Also marked "5"
on one side of the arc and "S" on the other.
According to
the
Directory
of American Toolmakers (DAT), edited by Bob Nelson, William
Friedrich
(no S at the end) made dividers in New York about 1790. In
another
place in the DAT, the spelling is Friedrichs, but that name is of
William
Friedrichs, a New York tool distributor. You figure it out.
