Head length: 7 inches; 5-1/4 inch blade. The rectangular striking face is smooth and is laminated steel. Length over handle & head: 16-1/2 inches.  This is a three-pound, symmetrical hatchet.  The handle is an old replacement with wood wedges.  The steel has never been cleaned; there are some dents & burs.  The cutting edge (except for two tiny chips that are visible in the images below) and striking face are both sound.
