There is a small
issue with each plane. The Stanley-Bailey Type 11 was used to plane only a few boards. Unfortunately, the last one had a nail in it. The nail made the half dozen scratches in front of the mouth and a nick or two in the blade. I can re-sharpen the blade so it'll be ready to use, but I'll leave the little bit of lapping of the sole up to you, the buyer. The Craftsman, Stanley-made Type 10 (or thereabouts - there's no frog adjuster, but you can manually set the mouth opening wherever you want it with only slightly more effort) has a cute, official-looking "4C" on the cheek. Its decal is about 98% intact as shown above. Yes, I cleaned both planes and put tung oil on the handles as well as a little light machine oil on the japanning. |
