Davis Level &
Tool Company

E.E. Rose and R.D. Johnson are the inventors referenced to the two patents identified on this brace, but there was another firm, Rose & Johnson, noted in the DAT to have been in operation from 1886 to 1898. The DAT listing for the Rose & Johnson firm mentions two patent dates for a brace or braces (U.S. Patent No. 342,727 and U.S. Patent No. 360,650). Those patents applied to ratchet brace(s)that were also made by the Davis Level & Tool Company. Sandy Moss has found a number of Davis Level & Tool Company braces which confirm these relationships.
