Note by George, III: The model splice bar at left was found in George, Sr.'s effects and given to me by George, Jr. It is made of brass and is about eight inches long. It displays the indentations made by the McKenna bar re-forming process that enables the bar to grip the rails tightest where there is the most wear. |
