Samuel Massey & wife Sarah to Hugh Morrison: Deed dated June 4, 1752
 
June 4, 1752: Samuel Massey, hatter, of Chestertown in Kent County Maryland sells for £30 to Hugh Morrison, tailor of Kent County, the two-thirds parts of Lott 67 in Chestertown in three equal parts to be divided, being the northernmost two thirds parts of the lot and all that remains thereof over and above the third part thereof heretofore sold and conveyed by William Stevenson to William Crane and divided therefrom by a line running North East for the length of the same lot. Acting for the Crown: George Garnett and Justices of the Peace Bedingfield Hands and T. Bordley; James Smith is Kent County clerk.
 
Maryland [illegible]: This indenture made the sixth day of June seventeen hundred fifty and two between Samuel Massey of Chestertown in Kent County in the province aforesaid, hatter of the one part and Hugh Morrison of the town and county aforesaid, tailor of the other part. Witnesseth that the same Samuel for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds current money of Maryland by the same due to the said Samuel in hand paid the receipt whereof the same Samuel doth hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold aliened released and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the said Hugh Morrison his heirs and assigns forever all that two thirds part of the tenement or lot of land situate and being in Chestertown aforesaid known and distinguished by the number sixty seven in three equal parts to be divided being the northernmost two thirds parts of the same lot and all that remains thereof over and above the third part thereof heretofore sold and conveyed by William Stephenson onto William Crane and divided there from by a line running north east for the length of the same lot together with all and singular the houses buildings easements emoluments tenements hereditaments rights members and appurtenances whatsoever unto the said hereby granted and bargained two thirds parts of the lot of land aforesaid belonging or appertaining and also the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof and all the estate right title interest claim property and demand whatsoever of him the Samuel Massey of in and to the same and every part thereof to have and to hold all and singular the aforesaid herein granted bargained two thirds parts of the lot of land aforesaid with the premises and appurtenances thereto belonging unto him the said Hugh Morris and his heirs and assigns forever to and for the only proper use of him the same Hugh Morris and his heirs and assigns forever in the same Samuel Massey for himself and his heirs doth hereby covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said Hugh Morrison two thirds parts of the tenement lot of land aforesaid claiming or who shall hereafter claim any estate right title or interest therein onto the same Hugh Morris and his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever by these presents defend. In witness whereof the parties aforesaid have to these presents interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

Kent County [illegible]: Be it remembered that on the sixth day of June seventeen hundred fifty and two Samuel Massey the grantor within named personally appeared before us two of his Lordship's justices of the peace for the county aforesaid and did acknowledge the within deed of bargain and sale to be his act and deed and two thirds parts of the lot of land with the appurtenances within mentioned to be and remain the right and estate of the within named Hugh Morris and his heirs and assigns forever at the same time came Sarah the wife of the same Samuel and acknowledged her assent to the deed she being first by us privately examined out of the hearing of her said husband declared that she made the said acknowledgment freely and willingly without being induced thereto by fear of or ill usage from her said husband or for fear of his displeasure.
