Bentonville, Ark.: A newspaper clipping reads:
"Work is progressing on the $40,000. Massey Hotel. ... Contractor L.A. Pace ... has between 30 and 40 hands at work on it.  Floors are all down on the third floor ... it will not be too long before this ... structure will be completed."

Bentonville, Ark.: R.D. Massey died intestate, accidentally killed in a runaway horse accident.  His obituary noted:
" ... he was the owner of the Massey Hotel, now in course of erection and almost completed."

Bentonville, Ark.: The Warranty Deed, dated 12 Feb.1909, was filed:
1 Nov.1914: Bentonville, Ark.: By Administrative Deed, W.J. Dake, Administrator of the estate of Robert D. Massey, sells to Mrs. Lyda M. Holmes lots 123 and 124 in the original Town (now city) of Bentonville, and all the personal property belonging to said estate, for $21,500.

[The Supreme Court of Arkansas decided in 1916 that it was OK for the administrator of the Robert Douglass Massey estate to spend funds from the estate to complete the construction of the Bentonville, Arkansas hotel that had been started by the decedent before his accidental death in 1909. Bentonville, Ark.:  Lyda M. Holmes, by Warranty Deed, sells lots 123 and 124 in the original Town (now city) of Bentonville, upon which is located the Massey Hotel, and all furniture and fixtures in said Hotel, that belonged to the estate of R.D. Massey and which was purchased by the grantor herein at Administrative Sale 1 Nov.1919.  Sold to C.R. Craig for $20,000. - of  which $5,000 is paid cash and balance to be paid as follows: $5,000 1 Nov.1920; $5,000 1 Nov.1921, and $5,000 1 Nov.1922, all bearing interest at seven percent, interest payable annually vendors lien retained upon the property for all unpaid purchase money.
