Appendix VI
Massey Family Tradition

Peter Massey (2) By family tradition, he is the 1644 Grantee of a 20,000 acre tract in Kent County, Maryland, called "Massey's Venture." By family tradition he is the descendant of the family, "Massey, Lords Clarina," of County Chester, England.  As my researches have to date produced not a hint of verification of these family traditions, it is my opinion that ultimate verification is almost totally unlikely.
Mace Family: Dorchester County, Md. (3)  There are several links between this Dorchester County "Mace" family and my Kent Co-Queen. Anne's County "Massey" family; suggesting that these two families have come from a common source.  In fact it appears reasonably probable that further research will confirm the relationship and eventually identify our true immigrant Massey ancestor.
