This inocuous device
is designed to separate a person from his rambunctious bull. The
galvanized iron portion shown here fastens to a hickory shaft; the owner
or farmhand clips the hook onto the bull's nose ring. The little
loop is for a lanyard that allows the leader to be operated without one's
having to get anywhere near the bull, an important safety feature.
The SARGENT
name is cast into the metal.
