B&D-146 Price: $30.00 plus shipping This old brace has taken quite a beating over its lifetime, but it's all still fully functional. Its handles bear many scars but are intact nevertheless. The ball bearing chuck has had its nose welded, but the ball bearings are OK. The nickel plating is just about completely gone, mostly replaced by black magnetite, now that all the red rust is gone. The chuck's pedigree of patents is difficult to follow, as the ball-bearing shell follows one patent, whereas the jaws follow another patent. B&D-110 has similar (but serrated) jaws and a similarly shaped ball-bearing shell; B&D-130 has the same jaws as the present brace but a different ball-bearing shell, as shown below.
