These
six collets became surplus when I bought a group of Ames-style 3AM
collets on eBay recently. It is only fortuitous that the
left-overs happen to be graded in size from 3/16ths inch to 5/8ths
inch. The largest of my other Ames 3AM collets has a 3/4 inch bore. |

The outer surfaces of all six collets are free of pitting;
and their threads and keyways are undamaged. I took the photographs of the collet faces before cleaning the very dirty bores with a paper towel. See the bottom row for a better look at those newly wiped bores. The 3/16ths inch collet appears to have been partially bored out to a larger size - there's a step clearly visible inside the bore. The other five collets have clean bores. Every one of these collets fits the spindle bore and drawbar threads of my Ames bench lathe. |
