Gardiner Holt Wrist handleMr. Holt started to made a split-frame adjustable-chuck brace modelled after Nelson Spofford's classic brace some years after the first Spofford patent appeared in 1859. Holt's brace was every bit as rugged as any Spofford brace. A signature component of all but one of the following Holt braces is the cylindrical, two-piece wrist handle and its brass reinforcing inserts.
