George, III] and George [Sr. - George, III] arrived from Saint
Paul this morning on the Union Pacific. Rain in the afternoon. |

Pleasant day. Mr. Winkler here in the evening.

| Thursday, May 30 |
Boys went to Plamer Lake. DHSC paraded and made a fine appearance.
Played tennis all the afternoon. Chas did not in afternoon. |

Pleasant day. E.G. and H. went to Ragan’s Ireland. Music - Zietz,
Sobrino, etc. were here. The terrible Johnstown flood. 4000 to 5000
drowned. |

Rained in the afternoons. Boys went to Berkley Lake. |

Wedding Day. Father’s and Mother’s 25th Anniversary of

evening.

Quite a crowd in evening. Mr. and Mrs. Randolph, Mr. and Mrs.
McIntosh, Mr. and Mrs. Gillain, Mrs. Raynolds, Mrs. Townsend, Jack,
Liddell, Zietz, von Schulz and Sobrino. Rained in evening. Rob’s
school closed for vacation.

Cloudy and rained in afternoon. HJr. to E.G’s. Mother, boys and Mrs. L
play letters. Lunch at Mrs. Raynold’s. Mother invests in some new
roses. Rob takes a lesson on fife.

Hot day. Review of DHSC at Camp by Loyal Legion. Charles staid out all night. At Mr. Schulz’s room in the evening. |

DHSC return from Camp Sheridan. Pleasant day. Pretty hot though. Rained in the afternoon. |

McIntosh. Mrs. Langford left for Cascade this A.M. [Cascade is nearly eighty miles away - that explains why Mrs. L. isn't mentioned again until four days later - George, III]

Hot day. Cloudy in afternoon. Boys go to take a swim. Mother & Mr. Langford take a ride in morning. |

Fine day. Mother & Mr. L. at Mrs Raynold’s to lunch. Cloudy
afternoon. Mr. Hooker and Ross-Lewis here in evening. B goes to
Kassler’s. Chas & Slim play tennis with Father.

Hot day. Cloudy afternoon. Darb preparing his little speech for the Fourth. Father and boys play tennis.

Very warm day. Cloudy in afternon. Mother & Mrs. L go to Mrs.
Peters to tea. They also go up to Mrs. McI. In evening Mr.Zietz,
Schulz, Mr & Mrs. Randolph & Raynolds here. Boys slept in yard. |

Very warm day. Boys go to a ball game. Tennis playing after supper.
Slim & B go to Berkley Lake. Quite a little rain about 9 P.M. |

Hot day. Boys making canons and preparing for the 4th. |

Another hot day. Mother and Mrs. Langford out all day. Grass and yard are in good order.

Very hot day. The Haningtons, Langfords, Randolphs, Raynolds and
McIntosh’s went to Wolf Lake on a little picnic. Kids slept in tent.
Gen. Sherman and party arrived this morning. |
| Thursday, July 4 |
100 degrees in shade. Fire crackers all the morning. Harry makes a
welcome address to Gen. Sherman. Dinner on the lawn. Mr. & Mrs.
McIntosh, Charley and Helen, Jack, Mattie, Langfords & Haningtons.
Fire works at Arlington Heights in evening. CK, GS, EG, here in
evening. |

Another hot day. No rain for two weeks or more. In the evening the
trades procession passed the house and made a fine appearance with the
floats.

| Saturday, July 6 |
Very hot day, 104 degrees in the shade. Mrs. L and boys left to night for Rock Springs. Tennis. |
| Sunday, July 7 |
Pleasant day although hot. All staid home from church. Rob ate dinner
at Mrs. Raynolds. This is Mr. and Mrs. Randolph’s Silver Wedding day.

| Monday, July 8 |
Cooler to day. About six o’clock it commenced to rain and lasted for
about an hour. Hardest rain this year. Big Ditch flooded and Cable
stopped.

Rained most of the day. Nothing special. |

Rob
and Chas went to see the Siege of Sebastopol at River Front Park. Very
Good. [This might have been a lecture byColin Frederick Campbell about his book, Letters from Camp to His Relatives During The Siege of Sebastopol, published in London by Richard Bentley and Son in 1894 - George, III].

Pleasant day. Mother and Father went up to Mrs. McIntosh’s in evening. |

Hot day. Chas came home about 11 a.m and we played tennis. Miss
Morris, Sobrino, Schulz, Irving Hale, Mr. and Mrs. Young and others
here in evening.

Rob and Ella Young play tennis. Pleasant day - Rained about noon. Chas leaves the Cable Co. |

Boys went to church. Mr. Hooker to dinner. |

Pleasant day. In evening, Ellen and myself went on a moonlight picnic to Morrison. |

Cut grass. Pleasant day, Mr. Randolph called in afternoon. |

Fine day. B and Chas work about the yard and improve tennis court. Rob goes to Central to visit Robt A. Campbell. |

Beautiful morning. Very cloudy in the afternoon with a little rain. E.G., Miss Cook, B & Chas play tennis. |

Quite a warm day. Preparing for Manitou. Mother plays letters in
aft. In evening Sobrino, Zietz, Schulz, Mrs. & Mr. McIntosh &
niece, Misses Gove & Cook & Hooker here. |

Beautiful day. At 7 P.M. Mother, Mrs. Mc, Misses Cook, Gove,
Worthington, & Smith & Mrs C.K., H.H., J.F.R. & C.H.H. go
to Manitou. Father and the Yuma’s? are left alone. |
| Sunday, July 21 |
Very hot day. Father dines at Club with Mr. McIntosh and also go{sic}
to Berkely. The party at Manitou spend the day riding about.

Fine day. Rain in evening about 6:30. At Manitou, went to Cascade
& Green mountain Falls. Took some pictures. Came home in the rain
about two hours later. Fine time. |

Very cool and pleasant day, although some rain. |
| Wednesday, July 24 |
Pleasant day. Alice Worthington and Mrs. McIntosh were down. Tennis - Frank here to dinner. I am a little off. |

Hot day. Mother has the horse in morning. B has some fever 100 3/5.
Dr. Davis up to see him, in bed all day. Jack & I make a call in
the evening.

Hot day. B has fever about 101. Miss Morris here to dinner and all
night. Music in evening. Present, Zietz, Schulz, Sobrino, Wolcott,
Mr. & Mrs. Randolph & McIntosh, Miss Worthington, Mrs. Raynolds

Very warm day. B still in bed, temp. 102 degrees. Mother and Miss
Morris drive some in morning. A very hazy day, caused from the forest
fires in Montana. Slim & I play tennis. |

Very pleasant morning, quite smoky. B feels some what better, temp
100 3/5. Afternoon 102 4/5. Chas & Slim make a call in afternoon.

Very smoky & cool morning. B’s temp 100 3/5 in morning. He feels
better to-day. Dr. Davis says he will have to let the fever run out.

Very hot day 97 in the shade. B’s temperature ranges from 102 1/2 to
104. Moved him down stairs - Mrs. Langford & boys return from Rock
Springs.

Beautiful day. B’s temperature 102 in morning. “Cherrie” range. B’s
temperature 103 to 104 in the P.M. but he feels decidedly more
comfortable than yesterday. “Cherrie” returned after ranging 24 hours.

Hot day. B’s temperature A.M. 103. Boys go up the Platte. Slim and
Chas play tennis in evening. I.O.B I.’s raid in evening and get “done.”

Hot morning. Some clouds in evening. B feels about the same - fever
ranges from 102 - 103 1/2 degrees. Mr.& Mrs. McIntosh here in
evening, also Miss. W. |

Hot morning. B about same, fever 102 - 104. Chas goes to church in
morning. Mrs. Langford goes riding and is at Randolph’s to dinner.

Langford and boys leave for home at 8 P.M. Dr. Steadman here. |
